Our Purple Cow – Seth Godin wrote a book a few years back called “The Purple Cow.” The idea behind the book is discovering what makes you unique or different. It’s kind of like this: If you were to drive through the countryside and see 2,000 black and white cows, you wouldn’t think a thing. If one of those cows was purple, you would stop and take notice… and then go tell everyone you know.
Every church is different and has a unique flavor, and there are plenty of great churches here in Centre County! Here are three things which make the Centre Church cow purple:
1) We are Committed to Living Missionally.
There is a tendency for all churches, no matter how sincere or motivated, to gravitate toward entropy, or breakdown. Muscles which don’t get used tend to degenerate. Centre Church is concerned with exercising our community muscles. Living for God means that we are living with others’ interests in mind, rather than asking, “What’s in this for me.” It’s not about us.
2) We don’t meet on Sunday Mornings.
There’s nothing out there that states you have to meet on Sunday morning to “have church.” So sleep in and enjoy your family; we’ll be meeting Sunday Nights.
3) Belong to Believe.
Many communities have an unspoken or even unrealized rule: You have to be like us in order to belong. At Centre Church it’s okay if you don’t know what you believe yet. You have a place to belong while you figure out what you believe. In the meantime, check out our core values if you want to know what we believe.
