SINGIN’ THE HITS!
If you are like me then two things are true of you. Well, likely more than two things are true – for instance, it’s true that I really love Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookies – but we’ll just focus on these two things:
CITY CHURCH – LEADING AS ONE
What does it take to be a great leader? Charisma? Charm? Power? Money? Centre Church is a recent member of The City Church, a group of eleven+ local congregations seeking to please God in his desire to see unity among His followers across “denominational” lines. At a time when Centre County has lost a centralizing figure in Joe Paterno and is struggling at best to trust the leadership at Penn State, questions of unity and leadership could not come at a more opportune time.
ARE YOU RUNNING?
Been thinking a lot lately about this word: BUSY

Okay boys and girls… today you are receiving permission. Permission to ask questions. Permission to have thoughts that fly in the face of all you were once taught. Permission to doubt. For as we go through our series called THINGS I DON’T BELIEVE ANY MORE we find ourselves confronted by an old belief recently dismantled for us by Bob Gresh:

Messy Me, Messy You
Jonathan and I were having dinner last night with Liz and Chris Helland, and we found ourselves continually using the phrase “messy community”. That’s what we are. Centre Church is a messy little community.
Can You Live Without a Map?
Suzy Weibel here. As I write this I am sitting in an athletic training room at North Arkansas College. It’s our Secret Keeper Girl green room for this evening’s show, and it is, regardless of what you may be thinking right now, NOT very glamorous. It is, however, where living life without a map has brought me today.
STEP ONE: Share event and invite friends
Alright, Centre Church and friends! This week we are going to take you through a step by step process of being “invitational”.
According to dictionary.com, “invitational” is a restrictive word. It’s something that is ONLY for those who have been invited. Well, then, scrap that! We’ll make up our own definition, because we want Centre Church to be an INVITATIONAL culture. Here’s our take on it…
INVITATIONAL: The defining quality of a welcoming group of people who believe they have found something worth sharing!

Life is funny! An axiom for sure! We hold this truth to be self-evident, that life can indeed be funny.
Just when you get that income tax return… the car needs a completely new exhaust system.
The first day of vacation…. is the day you step on the stingray.
One kid gets his head on straight… just in time for his younger brother to lose his!
Yeah, life is funny alright. It kind of keeps on trucking, regardless of our circumstances; and while we may be enslaved to our emotions, life doesn’t seem to pay any attention to our feelings whatsoever. At least we’re all in the same boat. Rich or poor. Young or old. This thing called LIFE keeps happening to us.

In case you haven’t heard, we are going to be meeting at Centre Church (Mt Nittany Middle School) at 6p.m. for a rather unconventional “service”.
