ENCOURAGEMENT FOR A TOUGH WEEK AHEAD
Are you facing a tough week ahead? Here is some quick encouragement from the book of Ephesians. The only thing you must promise is that if you have read this far you will stick with me to the end.
SINGIN’ THE HITS!
If you are like me then two things are true of you. Well, likely more than two things are true – for instance, it’s true that I really love Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookies – but we’ll just focus on these two things:
BETTER THAN A GRAMMY
I’m not talking about becoming grandparents, though Jonathan and I can hardly believe we will become just that in less than a month now!! Wonder what we should have Little Man call us… any ideas?
No, I’m saying the Grammys were last night. Don’t know if you watched them, seeing as an awesome thing called CHURCH happened last night as well! That’s what is better than a Grammy. Being part of a community that…
Prays for you…
Laughs with you…
Brings meals when you are sick…
Throws parties for your birthday and nuptials and baby birthing…
Cries with you…
Sends you off to foreign lands as a missionary…
Notices when you are not around…
You are noticed when you are not around. You matter. You are the Church.
Those Grammys end up dusty in display cases, tossed in the back of closets (it’s true) and one day we know that along with every other piece of metal, wood, and cloth from this earth they will be consumed by fire. Ashes to ashes… even that coveted statue that is the pinnacle of many careers.
But the Word of God will never pass away, and neither will what we have as members of this family.
You matter. Just want you to know that today!
THE SECRET KEEPER GIRL’S MITE
While Jesus was in the Temple, he watched the rich people dropping their gifts in the collection box. Then a poor widow came by and dropped in two small coins. “I tell you the truth,” Jesus said, “this poor widow has given more than all the rest of them. For they have given a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has.” Luke 21:1-4
