You Know It’s an Idol When…. by Leah Coll

I’m sitting at Panera sipping some Ceylon orange mango peach fruity green tea while I wait for Jeff, who’s attending an event at Calvary Baptist church. I’m not a huge tea fan, but it’s 5 degrees out, and the tea is hot. If I’d had to come here two or three days into the 21 day fast, I might not have made it without succumbing to one of my favorites- a large coffee, half decaf and half hazelnut. But I’m pleased to report I feel no desperate urge to jump over tables to get to the coffee urn. At just about the halfway point of the fast, God’s Spirit is putting my flesh in its place. You see, coffee, especially Panera coffee, was on my “list.”

Churches giving homework? Now that’s just not right!

And yet we are giving you just that! Just a reminder that there are a few things we want you to think about this week.

1. Our 21 day fast. We will be fasting for Nadia Webb, a Grace Prep student who has been diagnosed with cancer, as well as for revival at Centre Church and for one personal request. Be thinking this week about what kind of fast you would like to pursue between January 10-31, our 21 day period. Here are some sites which may be helpful to you:
